Activating your Web site

If you are a Wiktel customer, a free website is available to you with 10MB of storage. If you would like your free website activated, please contact service@wiktel.com. You can view your website with the web address http://www.wiktel.net/yoursite. If you are looking for your own domain name, Wiktel also offers flexible domain hosting services. Creating and Editing Your Website

When creating your website, you will need to have at least one main page that people come to initially named index.html. You can create and publish your website with a simple text editor like Notepad (with a separate FTP program), EditPlus or HTML-Kit, or you can use an html editing program like Microsoft's Expression or Adobe's Dreamweaver.

Most text editors have an FTP program built in. If you use Notepad you will need to have a separate FTP program available. You can download a free FTP program like Filezilla that can be installed on most home computers including MacOS X. For some Mac users, you will need to go to fetchsoftworks.com and download the Fetch FTP program. If you need a program to unzip the files for windows, try 7-Zip, a free and open source file archiver.

In your FTP program:

Site Label/Name = Wiktel
Host Address = ftp://www.wiktel.net
Username/Login = your username
Password = your password
Port = 21

Copy and paste your file from its directory to the web site directory, or transfer from your directory to the web site, depending on your FTP program. Delete files from your web site that are no longer used.
