First Lutheran Church
First Lutheran Church roots stem back to the 1880's. On February 27, 1891, a congregation was formally organized.
The cornerstone of the present church was laid October 31, 1948 with the addition of a Parish Education Building being completed in 1957.
Sunday morning worship services are at 9:00 a.m. with Sunday School being held at 10:00 a.m. During the summers there is no Sunday School and worship services remain at 9:00 a.m. Bible Studies are held throughout the year.
special events include the annual Sunday School Christmas program, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, and an annual Harvest Festival.
first Lutheran's missionary to the Central African Republic is Sarah Larsen Tada. Community Lutheran of Bullhead City, AZ is its Mission Partner Congregation.
Church organizations at First Lutheran include youth groups (Junior and Senior League), WELCA circles, church choir and bell choir.
First Presbyterian Church
The First Presbyterian Church of Stephen was established on the foundation of the early day Congregational Church and dates its charter from the year 1894.
In 1916 work on the present building got underway and was completed in December of that year.
Sunday morning worship services are at 11:00 a.m. for most of the year. morning worship in the summer is at 8:15 a.m. Vacation Bible School for Grownups is held in the summer with a mission offering taken for overseas churches and schools.
Church organizations at First Presbyterian Church include the Presbyterian Women and two Circles.
special events are the annual Harvest Festival, Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service, Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Ecumenical Lenten Service, Ecumenical Baccalaureate Service and Christmas Candlelight Service.
Church of St. Stephen
The first mass was celebrated in Stephen as early as 1879. The first Catholic Church in Stephen was built in 1888-89 with the present structure having been completed in 1918.
Saturday Mass is at 5:00 p.m.; Sunday Mass is at 10:00 a.m. The weekday Mass schedule is Monday - Thursday at 8:00 a.m. Sunday School is 9:00 a.m. and Release Time is held on Tuesdays.
Church organizations at St. Stephens include Ladies Aid, Catholic Youth Organization, Youth Choir and Adult Choir and the Knights of Columbus.
Special events include the annual Soup and Sandwich Luncheon, Valentine's tea, Children's Christmas Program, the High School Net Retreat, and Summer Bible School.
