City of Stephen

The City of Stephen is governed by a Mayor and four Council members as a Minnesota statutory city.

The Mayor is elected to a two-year term and the Council members are elected to four-year terms.  city elections are held during the odd-numbered years.

The Stephen City Council meets regularly on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of what is known as the Filtration Plant located adjacent to the fire Hall on Pacific Avenue.

City administration duties are performed by a Clerk-Treasurer.  A public works supervisor oversees the public facilities activities.

 

Marshall County

Stephen, with a population of over 700, is the second largest city in Marshall County.  The county seat is in Warren, Minnesota and is located 18 miles south of Stephen.  Marshall County's latest census lists the population of the county at almost 11,000.

Marshall county is governed by a five-member board of county commissioners who meet regularly on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.
