Stephen is served well by progressive health care facilities in view of the ratio of health care professionals to the population.  with two physicians, a nurse practitioner, one chiropractor and one dentist serving a community of under 1,000 people, the health care needs of the community and surrounding area compare favorably with county, regional and statewide ratios.

Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center - Stephen Branch

Since July 1994, Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center of Hallock, Minnesota, has operated a medical clinic in Stephen.  The Stephen clinic is served by Dr. Monte Koop, M.D., Dr. Ann Stoe, M.d., Dr. Roland Larter, M.D., Jason Nupdal, FNP, and Karen Warner, FNP.  These five practitioners provide services on a rotating basis as the clinic is open Monday through Friday.

The Stephen Clinic also has a limited pharmacy to fill, if the patient wishes, their immediate medication needs.  To make an appointment, please call 218-478-2767.  Walk-ins are also welcomed.

Stephen Chiropractic Center

Stephen Chiropractic, located on Highway 75 South, has served the community and surrounding area for over 25 years.  Myren D. Anderson, D.C. prides himself in staying in touch with improvements for treatment through seminars and lectures.  Implementing the use of painless "Activator Method" of treatment is an example of his professional commitment to an ever expanding practice.

Stephen Dental Clinic

Professional services are a plus for rural communities.  Stephen Dental clinic provides quality dental care for patients under the care of Dr. A. N. Riley.  Dr. Riley has served the community for over 20 years.

Stephen LAH/BNP

The Living At Home/Block Nurse Program is a community program that draws on the professional and volunteer services of local residents to provide information, social and support services, nursing and other services for the elderly to enable them to remain in their homes.  The program is sponsored by state and local funds.

The local office is located in the Community Center.  Volunteers or those seeking care or information, may stop there or call 218-478-3834.  The office is open each week day until noon or messages may be left for the staff on the answering service.

Public Nursing Service

North Valley Home Health Services has a field office in Stephen, Minnesota - located on Fifth Street just across from the Post Office.  The nursing service provides first aid and safety, maternity and prenatal services, child preschool immunization, home health care, health assessment counseling, training and testing.

Reflex Connection

The Reflex Connection, with two convenient locations in Stephen and Alvarado, celebrates its 5th year of business in 1998.  The Reflex Connection provides a wide range of homeopathic therapies, such as Reflexology, Swedish Massage, Onsite Massage, Accupressure, Ear Candling, and soon will be offering Myofacial Massage.

Kim Kovar, Certified Reflexologist, maintains an office on fifth Street, Stephen, Minnesota (across from the Community Center).  Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tri-Valley Heartland Express

Tri-Valley Heartland Express serves Marshall County with a shuttle bus that goes to surrounding cities (Grand Forks, Thief River Falls, Crookston and Warren).  The schedule varies, but is released monthly.  Stephen has about 10 trips per month.  for information or reservations, call 1-800-951-9363.

North Valley Medical Transport Service

The North Valley Medical Transport Service provides rides to clinical, physical therapy and diagnostic testing appointments at the North Valley Health Center in Warren, Minnesota, for those who have difficulty finding rides for medical service.

The service is FREE OF CHARGE -- the van will pick you up at your door, bring you to your appointment, stop at the Warren Pharmacy for any prescriptions, and return you home.

The service is available in these areas during the week:

Wednesdays........................Stephen and Argyle

Thursdays..................Warren, Viking and Angus
