Messenger
The Messenger weekly newspaper, with origins back to 1882 because of consolidation with the Marshall County Banner and the Marshall County Leader, has a paid circulation of approximately 2,000 and is the official publication of Marshall County.
Publication deadline is Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. The subscribers eagerly await the arrival of the latest publication early Wednesday afternoon in the post office. The Messenger office is located in Pacific Avenue.
Annual subscription rates are $18.00 in Marshall and Kittson Counties and $21.00 elsewhere. Canadian subscriptions are $24.00 per year. Six-month subscription rates are also available.
Local advertising rates are $3.00 per column inch. the Messenger also publishes an advertising tabloid call the "Nor'-Wester".
Classified ads are $.10 per word and $3.00 minimum if paid in advance or $4.00 minimum if billed.
The Messenger newspaper office also does commercial job printing. Earl L. Anderson is the editor/publisher.
Cable Television
The privately owned cable television system broadcasts free public service announcements and advertising for $1.00 on the local access channel. The channel also broadcasts weather updates which stay current throughout the day.
